- Tuesday: Jenna von Oy (I think she's singing but she'll always be Seven from Blossom to me)
- Wednesday: Durango at the David Hwang Theatre, Gruff Rhys, Her Space Holiday, XOXO, Panda at the Rec Center Studio, Sunny and Share Love You-the winner of the Outfest 2007 Audience Award for Best Soundtrack, a mockumentary about a former hubby-and-wife rock team who reconvene as an act who performs wildly inappropriate children’s songs involving “pedophiles and angry rainbows- at the Egyptian Theatre, Mark Ronson at the El Rey, a double feature of Jonestown:The Life and Death of Peoples Temple/Jesus Camp at the A.M.P.A.S. Linwood Dunn Theatre, Not Until Walter Gets Here at Sierra Stage, One Solution at the Stella Adler Theatre, or the Darjeeling Limited at Aero Theatre; Discussion with Wes Anderson following the film.
- Thursday: She Wants Revenge at the Troubadour, Anne Rieh “rieh-defines" Marlene Dietrich at the Gardenia Restaurant and Lounge, A (Piece of) Work in Progress at the Santa Monica Playhouse, K. Sridhar: An Evening of Indian Classical Music at the Skirball Cultural Center, Hollywood Hell House 2007 at Acapulco (friday and saturday nights as well) or Sertab Erener & Fahir Atakoglu Live-The Turkish pop songstress Erener joins forces with internationally acclaimed composer/pianist Atakoglu for one night only- at the Kodak.
- Friday: LA Phil: Salonen conducts Beethoven's Seventh Symphony at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, George Carlin at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk, Jon Brion at the Largo, Mods and Rockers (Slight Return): A Place to Be: A Celebration of Nick Drake. This special evening saluting the tragic Pink Moon British singer-songwriter includes films, guests, an art and photography exhibit, and the world theatrical premiere of Their Place: Reflections On Nick Drake (2007), a compilation of short Drake homages created by notable fans like Heath Ledger, Jonas Mekas and Tim Pope. Plus, the doc A Skin Too Few: The Days Of Nick Drake (2000, Jeroen Berkvens), featuring rare interviews with Drake’s producer Joe Boyd, arranger Robert Kirby and family members. Special in-person guests: Drake’s sister Gabrielle Drake and Joe Boyd- at the Egyptian Theatre, The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore at the Fountain Theatre, The Root at Ark Theatre Company, Suffragette Koans at the Little Victory Theatre, No Shame Theatre at the Powerhouse Theatre, or a free 20th anniversary screening of The Princess Bride at LACMA's Bing Theatre (though of course you own the dvd, such a large setting could be fun- like a PG and kid friendly Rocky Horror show)
- Saturday: Kurt Cobain: About a Son at the Nuart, Heat & Hostility at the El Centro, Painted Alice at the Elephant Theatre, Valparaiso at Garage Theatre, Mods and Rockers (Slight Return): A double feature. First, a “mystery sneak preview” of a new rock film so good “you’ll be telling all your friends you saw it first.” Then, some Maysles brothers goodness with the absolutely unforgettable Gimme Shelter (1971), an eerie murder-caught-on-tape look at the end of an era, when rock & roll literally became hellish at the Altamont Motor Speedway in December 1969- at the Aero Theater, Simon Stokes at Taix, Assassins at the National Guard Armory, Clay at the Kirk Douglas Theatre, The Fabulous Divas of Broadway at Open Stage West, or Ugly Coco at the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center' Renberg Theatre (!)(!)(!)
- Sunday: Gutpuppet and Tin/Bag at the Center for the Arts, Mods and Rockers (Slight Return): A sneak preview of the biopic every Joy Division fan has been waiting for, Control at the Aero Theater, Arabia Exotica 2007: Glamour in Exile at the Avalon, Bob Baker's Fiesta: Halloween Edition at the Bob Baker Marionette Theatre (reservations required) or the Shins at the Greek.
