I didn't really pay much attention to the debate yesterday, the last debate before votes are actually cast (!) because I knew that John would win and the reviews are in and from pretty much every quarter John Edwards won and performed brilliantly.
From Time where John received the highest grade:
Displayed with mechanized efficiency the same confidence and warm populism that he has nearly perfected on the campaign trail. Talked about his family's working-class roots and the daily struggles of real Iowans with the silky polish of the world-class trial lawyer that he once was. If enough Iowa Democrats watched the debate, Vegas harpies would be dumb as an ear of corn to bet too much against this guy in the caucuses.
Exactly!!! but more importantly the people, the actual caucus goers agree. In one of the only moments that I can remember the major cable news networks mentioning John Edwards both Fox News'
and CNN's focus group gave their highest grades to John Edwards
(c'mon, Johnny!)
Don't believe all the two person Democratic race hype, people respond, like and will always be drawn into the corner of someone they can Trust
But over the next few weeks as overt campaigning "winds down" for the holiday season we should all remember why this election really matters summed up so eloquently in John's Wish for the New Year
Happiness. Health. Hope.
But our words are just a promise about our actions. Live deliberately, sacrifice for what is truly important, and, above all, in these times -- and all times -- trust your heart.
