How F*cking Romantic- The Bitter Valentines Day MixTape

In case you didn’t realize it there are a mountain range worth of songs that mention love so I’ve rethought my valentine’s day playlist plan.

So here’s Part 3 of a Tri Part Journey (part 1 "What is Love" here and here is part 2) where it all falls apart

`Watch this, Lis. You can actually pinpoint the second when his heart rips in half"

  • The Magnetic Fields- How Fucking Romantic [download]
  • The Flaming Lips -Maybe I'm Not The One [download]
  • Kaiser Chiefs -Everyday I Love You Less And Less [download]
  • Mary Gauthier - Falling Out Of Love [download]
  • Led Zeppelin -Heartbreaker [download]
  • Travis - The Humpty Dumpty Love Song [download]
  • Elvis Presley -Heartbreak Hotel [download]
  • Jens Lekman -I'm Leaving You Because I Don't Love You [download]
  • Toni Braxton -Un-Break My Heart [download]
  • Fleetwood Mac -Go Your Own Way [download]
  • The Carter Family -I Never Will Marry [download]
  • Jimmy Scott -I'm Through With Love [download]

how fucking romantic
all the stars are out
twinkling twinkling twinkling
and fluttering about

what a tacky sunset
what a vulgar moon
play another charming
rogers and hart tune

how fucking romantic
must we really waltz?
drag another cliche
howling from the vaults

love you obviously
like you really care
even though you treat me
like a dancing bear

toss your bear a goldfish
as he cycles by
don't forget to feed your
bear or it'll die

Mind=Blown (Admittedly Not All The Way Blown But Still)

Have you ever wondered what Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" would sound like if it was played by the mop-top "I Want to Hold Your Hand" era Beatles?
Well neither did I before this post from Best Week Ever highlighting a Beatles cover band The Beatnix and their genius version of Stairway to Heaven
It's so indescribable, it's mindblowing

You can download the mp3 (y'know you want to) here at Berkeley Place.
Now to have a Joy Division cover band take on Stevie Wonder's Higher Ground...

It's Been A Long Time

Damn it's been a long lonely time.Seriously though Led F*ckin' Zeppelin. How cool is that?! I really have nothing to say that won't be said a million times in thousands of accents by hundreds of writers that are better than me, so I won't even bore you.I was staring at the cover of Rolling Stone and Jimmy Page to me looked like some magical wizard with his silver hair, John Paul Jones just looked like a regular normal guy and Robert Plant really reminded me of a lion. Like a conquering hero-there is totally some mystical magnetism that they have. I was thinking about it and Robert Plant in the early to mid 70s was the sexiest man ever, he not only had "IT" he was "IT." I mean if they wanted to do anything with a shark I'd probably be okay with it- he is a Golden God.

Anyway Rolling Stone has a pretty sweet slide show of pictures taken from last night, as does Getty Images (which labeled its pictures of Evan Rachel Woods and Marilyn Manson as Evan Rachel Woods and Marilyn Wood, which amused me greatly.) I'm so jealous of all of these people.
Oh how I wish I was there but since I wasn't there I'm going to try to recreate the concert here with some footage taken from the 2007 O2 concert by some amazing people (who I hoped didn't spend the whole concert filming and actually enjoyed themselves) and some older footage when i could find it (hopefully more footage will be popping up in the next few days and I'll try to fill in the gaps. I heart youtube)
